Scottish: Men 7

Round 7, or, in other words, the third last game of the Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish Men's Championship round robin. For those that like to work out what might happen if such and such beats such and such and how things would be if sas lost to sas .... here were the current standings, before the game.

Wins-losses
David Edwards 6-0
David Smith 4-2
Tom Brewster 4-2
Logan Gray 4-2
David Murdoch 3-3
Ewan MacDonald 3-3
John Hamilton 2-4
Jay McWilliam 2-4
Graeme Black 1-5
Murray Young 1-5

These rankings are of course from the Royal Club website, here, where Colin and Elaine Hamilton are working hard to keep the scores online, end by end!

What were the key matchups to watch tonight? Murdoch played Smith, and Gray played Edwards. I got set to watch the latter, but Teams Edwards took four at the second and stole another two, maintaining their unbeaten record and ensuring their qualification for the playoffs. The top photo shows Logan Gray in his new job as a cloakroom attendant!

I decided then I would get a couple of photos of one of the teams that had escaped my lens so far.

Here's John Hamilton.

Graeme Copland and Jamie Dick are the front end.

Philip Garden and John watch behind Scott Hamilton. The Graeme Black team won this one.

All the scores are here.

This is the Young v Brewster game. Murray Young and his rink had played well to be 5-1 up after four, and 7-6 up after eight, against the Scottish Champions. But they were in trouble in the ninth. Here they are wondering how to avoid an eight!

Tom Brewster's last stone on its way, Greg Drummond calling line. Tom brought the front red into play, but rolled too far to the side. Only a seven! Enough for the win though.

Team Murdoch were up against Warwick Smith, David Smith, Alan Smith and Ross Hepburn. A big game for David, Glen Muirhead, Ross Paterson and Richard Woods. This one went to an extra end, with Murdoch making his last hit perfectly for the win.

Ewan MacDonald played Jay McWilliam. Here's Jay with Ewan and Graeme Connal behind.

Grant Hardie plays last stones.

Euan Byers is thinking, "Pete was not too bad at the karaoke last night, but today...."

Team decision making. On the night the juniors were the stronger, and they added the MacDonald scalp to their collection.
