A Chinese follower

The face of a World Champion! This is Bingyu Wang, or Betty to her teammates. The Chinese world curling champions are in Scotland to compete in the Glynhill Ladies International which begins at 08.00 tomorrow (Friday) at the Braehead rink.

I decided to be a bit of a groupie today and follow the world champions around, to see what they would do. Here they are with the team coach, Weidong Tan, and the Chinese Curling Association's National Coach, Dan Rafael, about to set off. Where to? I followed them up to the Greenacres Rink and watched them practicising for a couple of hours there. Another day at the office!

I must admit that I did not know all the team members by name. Do you? Anyway, let me introduce you. This is lead player Yan Zhou, aka Jenny!

Qingshuang Yue is the second on the team. She answers to Susan!

Lu is the third, although in the programme her name is Yin Liu.

And of course, Betty is the skip. Welcome to Scotland girls, and 'Good curling!'

Let's give a big credit to Mitchells Hire Drive, one of the sponsors of the event! It's a busy day for the transport team today as the rest of the foreign teams get into town.

If you are free from tomorrow, why don't you look in to the curling rink at Braehead and watch the ladies in action yourself. No charge!
