At the weekend

Well done to Jackie Lockhart with Karen Kennedy (3rd), Kay Adams (2nd) and Sarah Macintyre (lead) who qualified for the quarterfinals of the Credit-Suisse Women’s Masters in Basel, a Curling Champions Tour event. There were twenty-four teams in a triple knockout. The Lockhart team won their first, but lost their second game to go into the B Road. There they won two but lost out to Anette Norberg, which put them into the C Road. There they won against Linda Klimova, in a game that was webcast on Laola1.tv. But on Sunday morning they went down to Mirjam Ott's Swiss team. The event was won by Margaretha Sigfridsson's team from Sweden.

Eve Muirhead and her team of Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Claire Hamilton started well but failed to qualify at the Curlers Corner Autumn Gold Curling Classic in Calgary, a thirty-two team triple knockout World Curling Tour competition. The Muirhead team won their first two games in the A Road, but lost to Cathy Overton-Clapham, which put them into B. A loss there put them into the C Road. They won one further game there before losing to Jennifer Jones.

Duncan Menzies' team of Stuart Taylor, Robert Fawns and Angus Dowell won the Kinross Junior Classic. The Lesley Young team of Louise Joiner, Hayley Duff and Layla Al Saffar won the junior women's event. Photos and scores are here. It was certainly a good weekend for Forfar Young Curlers, and there is a report on their website here.

And in the Royal Club's Scottish Mixed Senior Championship, Archie Craig defended the title his team won last year. The results are here. I hope to have more on this event later.
