An Eight for the Old Fellows

An 8-ender was achieved during the Old Fellows Curling Club Spring League game at The Peak, Stirling, yesterday (Thursday, February 9). The successful rink was David Anderson (skip), Boyd Houston, Wilson Brown and Sandy Shearlaw. The team which lost the eight, as usual sought anonymity.

Eric Begbie, the club secretary, says, "Old Fellows is one of the largest clubs playing at Stirling with fifty-eight members and ten rinks in its Autumn and Spring Leagues. The club welcomes men over the age of 55 and plays on Thursdays at 12:30pm."

Sandy Shearlaw (on the left on the pic above) apparently taught Logan Gray (competitive curler, and Area Curling Development Officer) to curl, all these years ago! Sandy, you've got a lot to answer for!

Thanks to blogally Norman Wares for the heads up on the eight ender. He says of the Old Fellows, "It's a superb, thriving club - very well organised, and highly competitive."

Logan Gray took the photo.
